Huh. Never caught this show when it was airing. Neat.
It reminded me more of the Phoenix Wright universe than even the last couple actual Ace Attorney games that have been released. It had that same kind of Noir-but-bright-and-cartoony atmosphere and vibrant animated secondary characters. Plus it had this America-but-not-quite kind of setting that really made me think it had been adapted from a British show at first, kind of the same vibe you get in the “Japanamerica” world of a Translated Phoenix Wright game.
One of my favorite things on television. And I don’t watch TV that much. Also, I would kill for the piemaker’s car.
at first, it started off satirically, with jibes at charter schools, and ‘college prep in utero’.
then, it talked about how this particular theme park stimulated a learning environment, and was also fun, to boot.
the only area i’ve ever seen that was truly purpose-built for learning is a library.
and you can’t beat libraries.
besides, kids shouldn’t be forced into ‘learning’, especially at a young age.
when i was a kid, nobody ever told me to pick up a novel, or borrow all those books from the library about Rome, and Egypt.
i did it because it fascinated the hell out of me, and still does.
it’s like calvin in calvin and hobbes; never any interest for dry school subject, but when it came to something he had a passion for, like dinosaurs, he knew more than most adults in the strip.
i understand the need for every student to have exposure/a basic understanding of the arts/sciences/humanities, but once again, I reference Calvin and Hobbes:
”As you can see, I have memorized this utterly useless piece of information long enough to pass a test question. I now intend to forget it forever. You’ve taught me nothing except how to cynically manipulate the system. Congratulations.”
This Is Also All Kinds Of Wrong of the Day: Daniel Chong, an innocent UC San Diego student, spent five days in a holding cell without food, water, or human contact after he was wrongfully detained during a raid of a friend’s house by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The 23-year-old wasn’t charged with a crime, but officers forgot to release him. He kicked, screamed, and cried, but no one came to his aid: “They never came back, ignored all my cries and I still don’t know what happened. I’m not sure how they could forget me.”
Chong was forced to drink his own urine for hydration and he carved the words “Sorry Mom” into his arm with glass in a fit of psychosis. “I had to do what I had to do to survive,” he said. “I was completely insane.”
On Chong’s fifth day in the small, windowless room, officers finally heard his pleas for help. Upon his release, he was incoherent and had to be hospitalized. He was found to have eaten glass and treated for a perforated lung.
Chong is considering filing a lawsuit against the DEA, which has apologized to him and promised a review of the incident.
Custom Mosin Nagant Coffee Table…(Mosin Nagants sometimes arrive in the U.S in their original Russian storage crates which can house up to 20 of these rifles. Someone just happened to turn a crate into a neat coffee table.)
This is pretty awesome. If I get my hands on a box like this, I’m totally doing this.
Everyone needs to watch this - especially women. Reblog this video please. I swear you’ll cover your webcam after watching is - or better yet, just throw away your laptop.
To be honest, I don’t really know this man very well but I can tell you he is one strong man. Mr. Blair was a well respected physics teacher and one of the nicest individuals you’ll ever meet. Unfortunately, today was his last day teacher until further notice because he is in risk of having throat cancer and this was devastating to hear especially since cancer stole his wife away not too long ago. In honor of Mr. Blair, EV dedicated today just for him and this man couldn’t be happier. Although going through all of this tragedy, this man seemed like he had won the lottery. As he walked out to the quad this afternoon, applause was in the air, as everyone gathered around to commeroate everything that he has done for us. Posters were made, speeches were given, balloons flying, and many many hugs and good-byes were given. It seemed like his life was going on such a great decline but when the administrator gave him the microphone, he announced to everyone, “I’m the luckiest man in the world.” And that was just so touching, tears were slowly dripping from my face and all the times we complain about the smallest things, this man seems content with whatever roadblock he has to overcome.
My deepest prayers go out to Mr. Blair, and I wish for only the best.
Mr. Blair, I remember about complaining about how your class was boring last year, bit I really started missing your class this year. I was transferred in your class about halfway through the first semester, and so many new friendships were made. I loved the way you would play music during quizzes. You were always so nice. Now that I look back on it, my bet grade was in your class. I learned most from you. You were always so positive. Today, you really touched me, by how happy you were. I was glad to see you happy, and I expect to see you back at school soon. I know you will definitely make it through this. Hope to see you soon.
Best wishes Mr. Blair.
Mr. Blair was so kind-hearted.. I was so glad I got transferred into his class two weeks into the school year. His style was so old-school and really patient with people. I loved how simple he made things and hearing about some of his life stories.. like owning a airplane, that’s pretty sweet. Loved his occasional playing of Friday on fridays.. hehe. I’ll miss having him around. He really doesn’t deserve cancer, and I hope he turns out healthy and alive.
Take care Mr. Blair
Hey! I’m red shirt, far right.
I gave a terrible speech, though..
But hey! Mr. Blair is likely to be teaching again next year!
The true identity of Ludwig van Beethoven, long considered Europe’s greatest classical music composer. Said directly, Beethoven was a black man. Specifically, his mother was a Moor, that group of Muslim Northern Africans who conquered parts of…
